Riverdale's "Infamous" Pep Rallies

Pep Rallies are not a new concept in High Schools. However, you haven't really seen a pep rally quite like a Riverdale Pep Rally. Just ask anyone who has had the privilege to experience one.

Riverdale pep rallies are a showcase for school spirit and achievement. They are led by our nationally recognized cheerleaders, incredible dance team, and of course . . . the band! With decibel levels that match a rock concert, you can't help but get the chills at a Riverdale Pep Rally. We even have a decimal meter to judge the class that wins the Spirit Stick.

We have guests from time to time, Titans Cheerleaders and T-RAC or the Predator's GGNASH. Homecoming usually has Miss Tennessee pay a visit and speak to the seniors afterwards. We sometimes have surprise guests.

Black Out Week Pep Rallies are amazing.

St Baldricks

The tradition began in 2014 when Coach Lamar Davis learned that the young daughter of a former Riverdale football player had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, leading the school community to unite in support.

A pivotal moment in the campaign's history was the loss of Taylor Filorimo, a beloved 16-year-old softball player who passed away from renal cell carcinoma in 2012 after a three-year battle. Her memory galvanized the school to continue its fundraising efforts, fostering a cherished tradition within the community. In 12 years, the Warriors Family has raised $321,320 for St. Baldricks in the Battle to Beat Childhood Cancer.

Senior Week

Senior week has been a major part of the Warrior Tradition for years. It is an eventful week that consists of organized activities on and off campus. It is always held towards the end of the year as it is a special week dedicated to Riverdale's senior students. This allows them to bond with one another before their graduation. This gives the seniors a memorable experience to have and most importantly taking with them the Warrior Spirit as they move onto the next chapter of their lives.

Cultural Fair

The Cultural Fair is our biannual event to appreciate and recognize all of the diverse cultures and peoples included in Riverdale’s student body! It’s the perfect opportunity to learn about and meet people with different backgrounds, as well as a great time to blow off some stress and enjoy the festivities. Such festivities include student led booths that will offer things like food and trinkets from their culture, but also music and dancing for everybody to enjoy!

Powderpuff Football

One tradition of our homecoming football week is our powderpuff flag football tournament and it is not your typical average football game! Sure, they both score touchdowns and compete but it gives ladies a shot to show their athletic skills and the guys to show their hype and support!

Players are separated into four different teams based on class. As each team works hard, students arrive to cheer their teams on as they fill the anticipation for the Friday game!

Even as the game starts to get more competitive, at the end of the day, everyone from the field to the stands has fun as they are a part of something special!

Dress-up Days

The fun for homecoming never stops as we gear up for our dress-up traditions! Every year, homecoming gets an overarching theme for dress-up days, for example: Despicable Me this year and has dress-up days like Twin Day and PJ Day!

From Monday-Friday, there will be a dress up theme each day based on the overall theme for the week. It challenges students with their creativity in their outfits and stirs up competition between classes on what fits the theme best.

Faculty Frenzy

Students aren’t the only ones who compete in homecoming! Faculty Frenzy is an event that involves the school faculty being separated into 4 class teams and play games to compete!

As teachers play these games, the students are in stands, cheering them on! A lot of students can think that their teachers are boring, but Faculty Frenzy proves that even teachers can also have a lot of fun during homecoming week!

Pigout

It’s never homecoming week without Pigout! As the cherry on top for homecoming week, Pigout gives students a chance to go eat the foods that they like and even try new ones!

There are multiple stands and food trucks that sell all kinds of goodies like food, snacks, drinks, merchandise, and more. A lot of the stands are actually from our school clubs and sports teams who sell goodies for fundraising to afford anything that they will need.

It helps the students get hyped for that night’s game as they cheer on for their Warriors!
